Lotus owners Proton have said that Lotus is not up for sale and reports say Lotus CEO Dany Bahar has been suspended over his expenses. Grandiose plans launch a whole range of supercars from a small niche manufacturer in the flatlands of Norfolk was always a strange call, and the sort of bills loss-making Lotus seems to be meeting make, on the face of it, little commercial sense.
Kia will build their rumoured rear-wheel drive V8 saloon - but it won't come to the UK, sources in Korea have confirmed to CAR.Following the domestic badge hierarchy, this new range-topper would logically be called the K9. The new large Kia saloon was scheduled to be shown in 2011, but it has now been pushed back to a 2012 launch. The new saloon would sit above the front-drive 3.5-litre V6 K7/Cadenza saloon in the Kia line-up. CAR understands the new exec will be ready by May 2012.
The K9 represents the first application of sister brand Hyundai's rear-drive technology from the Genesis and Equus. Expect Hyundai's 'Tau' V8 engine under the bonnet, along with the upcoming eight-speed automatic transmission which arrived in the Genesis R-Spec saloon at the 2011 Chicago auto show.
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S teased for Paris
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV may not be perfect, but it offers something no other car maker is able to offer at the moment – a tax-efficient plug-in hybrid SUV/Crossover for the same money as a conventionally-powered car. And it looks like Mitsubishi are planning to make the Outlander PHEV even more appealing. We have the first photos of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S – which is heading for a debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show – and as far as we can tell this is an upmarket Outlander PHEV with cosmetic tweaks and more toys.
